I GOT YOUR DO NOT CALL LIST RIGHT HERE!
Ok, we have had this government, "Do not call list", for quite a while now -- you what? I get more calls now than ever before! Is it just me?
Before the politicians stepped in a "helped us" - NOT! I was using my local phone companies product to screen my calls for me. The service was part of a package that I paid monthly for, but you know what? It Worked -- I NEVER got a call that I didn't want. EVER!!
Here's how it worked. When you called my number, you got a message that asked you to enter the password that let you get right through to me or my family members. THAT'S IT!! If you didn't know the password or was a telemarketer, you would have to leave a message or hang up.
Did I think the monthly rate for this convenience was expensive? Yes. Did I pay it? You bet.
That service is still available but I switched to a cableTV phone service right now and they don't have a service like that one and probably wont since the tremendous pressure to give control of the phone back to the customer is off - supposedly.
Bottom line: The Government shouldn't be in the communication business or any other business!
Don't get me started on that route, thats for my next blog.
